Pastures Farm has been the home of John and Debbie Skinner and their three sons Sam, Ben and Joe since 1984. Pastures Farm is a mixed farm, (animals and crops) with a few small industrial units which we introduced as our way of diversifying. Like many farms, there is a ‘bit of everything’ on the farm, and we are always looking at branching out with new ideas.
For those new to the site, not so long ago we tried an experiment which was not to have any animals on the farm at all except for our lovely labradors, to be honest, it was a very strange existence indeed. Fortunately it was a short lived experiment, we still have Hattie our gorgeous black labrador who recently had a fabulous litter of puppies, Dizzy the latest and newest addition to the farm - a Jack Russell cross Norfolk from Suffolk, hens, and two Greyface Dartmoor sheep - Hyacinth and Hazel. We did have a Kune Kune pig Alice (aka Princess Alice, Duchess of Pork) for a couple of years but we decided that she really did need more company, so we were thrilled when we found her a fabulous new home in Lincolnshire where she is now surrounded by donkeys, goats, sheep, hens, ducks and children. And we gather she has settled in remarkably well.
At the back of the farm we are lucky enough to have a stunning reedbed which has been opened up as a circular walk. There really is nothing nicer than on a Summer's evening to take a stroll and enjoy all the sites and sounds of this delightful area.
